The South Atlantic Anomaly

This video shows the location of the South Atlantic Anomaly. In this region one of the shields that trap potentially harmful particles from space dips to just 200km about the Earth’s surface. This cosmic shield is one of two of what are known as Van Allen Radiation Belts and is teaming with high Energy particles.
