Bob O’Dell talks about Hubble’s early years
Bob O’Dell was the first project scientist for what later became the Hubble Space Telescope. Throughout the 1970s, he was the lead scientist responsible for designing and promoting the observatory. Here he talks about his career building Hubble, and his involvement in the discovery of proplyds in the Orion nebula. The interview was carried out at the “Science with the Hubble Space Telescope – III” conference in Venice, Italy, in October 2010. Sections of this interview appear in Hubblecast episodes 41 and 42.
