Zoom out from the Carina Nebula
In this video we zoom out from the bright Carina Nebula. The nebula has a diameter of over 200 light years and is one of the largest diffuse nebulae in our skies which can be seen from the southern hemisphere in the constellation of Carina (the Kneel).
It is an immense cauldron of gas and dust which is sculpted by the action of outflowing winds and scorching ultraviolet radiation from the monster stars that inhabit this inferno. In the nebula several stars that are among the hottest and most massive known, each about 10 times as hot, and 100 times as massive, as our Sun can be found. Primarily, however, the nebula is a tempestuous stellar nursery which creates a new generation of stars.
