Exploring the Interactive ESA/Hubble image app
This montage illustrates how the Aladin Lite Interactive app can be used to view astronomical objects by comparing multi-wavelength datasets.
The object depicted is an example of a special class of star-forming nursery known as Free-floating Evaporating Gaseous Globules, or frEGGs for short. This object is formally known as J025157.5+600606. Learn more about the object featured in this image here.
More notably, the infrared image (bottom right) allows the viewers to see through the dust and gas. Meanwhile, the optical filters (top images) display the colourful features of this star-forming nursery. The image on the bottom-left is a cross-fade between the optical and infrared images.
